Despite the recently granted 3 months flexible extension until January 31st, 2020 every consignment to and from the UK will be subject to customs declaration after Brexit, we have compiled a helpful checklist for you.

TSP – Our Recommendation for transports to the UK

The UK government
has implemented Transitional Simplified Procedures (TSP) to ease the transport of EU-goods into the UK. TSP reduce the amount of information UK recipients of goods need to give in an import declaration when the goods are crossing the border from the EU. TSP are applicable for most types of goods (excl. e.g. dangerous goods). To access the benefits of TSP, the UK recipient of the goods needs to register for TSP. Once registered, the TSP registration number needs to be provided to Kuehne + Nagel.

Please note:
If Kuehne + Nagel does not have a business relationship with the recipient we are legally not allowed to approach the recipient to obtain their TSP registration number. This usually applies when doing shipments for EU-based companies.

Using TSP mitigates the risk of delays at the border, because it reduces the amount of information you need to give in an import declaration. When presenting your TSP number, customs clearance does not have to be done immediately at the border, so most shipments will not need to queue for clearance at the port.
